SnakesCommon Issues

Snake in the Yard

The best thing is to let it be and allow it go its own way. A snake's diet is small mammals and is good pest control. If you want to deter snakes, remove brush, rocks, wood and other debris that provides hiding places for snakes and their prey.

Snake Digging Up Yards

This is a myth. Snakes are physically unable to dig holes. They do, however, find existing holes created by small mammals for shelter and food.

Snake in the House

Stay calm. This will reduce the risk of the snake hiding. Open a door and gently guide the snake out the door. If this is impossible, place an empty wastebasket on top and place weight on top and call a professional trapper such as pest control in the Yellow Pages.
