Hampton Recognized For Budget: The City of Hampton received the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.
Digital Cities Designation: For the tenth year in a row, Hampton was acknowledged as one of the most technology-advanced cities in the nation as named by the Center for Digital Government. This designation is based on its 2011 Digital Cities Survey.
Hampton Receives Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration: The International Association of Assessing Officers announced that the Office of the Assessor of Real Estate received the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration.
Hampton Health District Earns Public Health Emergency Preparedness Recognition: As local health departments nationwide strive to protect the public from new and infectious diseases, bioterrorism, natural disasters, and other public health threats, the National Association of County and City Health Officials recognized the Hampton Health District for its ability to respond to public health emergencies.
2011 Thomas H. Muehlenbeck Award for Excellence in Local Government: The City of Hampton was once again recognized on a national level for its budget input process, called the "I Value" Campaign, by winning the 2011 Thomas H. Muehlenbeck Award for Excellence in Local Government, awarded by the Alliance for Innovation. The award is bestowed annually to a local government that has successfully and creatively addressed a public service dilemma.
Reinhard Mohn Prize - 4th Place: Hampton's approach to civic engagement gained international attention, with the city placing fourth in the 2011 Reinhard Mohn Prize. This international competition is presented by the Bertelsmann Foundation, the largest private operating non-profit foundation in Germany. More than 100 projects from 36 countries were nominated; Hampton was one of two finalists from the U.S.
Excellence in Economic Development Planning Award: The City of Hampton was the 2011 recipient of the Donald E. Hunter Excellence in Economic Development Planning Award from the Economic Development Division of the American Planning Association.
Digital Cities Survey award winner 6th place nationwide, the 2011 Digital Cities Survey examined how city governments have progressed in adopting and utilizing digital technologies to improve the delivery of services to their citizens.
