Hampton TRIAD

What is Hampton TRIAD?

Hampton TRIAD is a partnership between the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Police Department, Parks and Recreation, senior citizens, and senior service providers that all work together to connect seniors with resources to match their needs.Though TRIAD primarily focuses on reducing crime and senior safety, Hampton TRIAD addresses mature adult and senior concerns.

History

TRIAD was first conceived in 1988 when representatives from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the National Sheriff's Association (NSA) came together and agreed to partner to help ensure senior safety. TRIAD joins law enforcement officials and seniors for the purpose of reducing crimes.

The National Association of TRIADS Inc. (NATI), formed in 1999, acts as an umbrella organization that provides advice, support, technical assistance, and training to local TRIAD's throughout the United States. Virginia has a total of 66 TRIAD associations.
