Rental Inspections

Hampton has adopted rental inspection ordinance that covers eight districts within the city. The measure is designed to improve the health, safety and welfare of our citizens; ensure safe, decent and sanitary living conditions; prevent or reverse blight; and increase the resale value of the city's housing stock.

Two ordinances were approved October 23, 2013, after two public hearings, outreach and input with property owners; and with the support of the city's Neighborhood Commission.

Neighborhoods subject to the ordinance are: Hampton Club and Magruder Heights; Holly Homes and Fordham; North Phoebus; Old North Hampton and Langley; Olde Hampton; Shell Road Corridor and South Wythe; South Phoebus; and Sussex. See map.
