This events for Youth Violence Prevention Week are designed to combat gun violence and include a meaningful community gathering, education, awareness, self-expression, athletics, policy, and celebration.

Expression Contest
Entrants expressed how they felt about youth violence by entering the Walking in Hope contest, for ages 14-24. Submissions were in the form of an original essay, poem, song, artwork, dance. The Reunion of Hope
Come together to share a sense of faith, family, and purpose by tying an orange ribbon of hope in remembrance of someone affected by gun violence. Then instill hope in today's youth with a celebration. There were athletic games on the ball fields and the Rec 'N' Roll Bus and gaming bus. Shelters were open for this event, and there was a free cookout.

Hope After Dark
Mix and mingle at a social night for grassroots organizers to engage, connect and learn about other resources to support future collaborations. Must be 21 or older. Powered by Virginia Radio taped a podcast at the gathering. Appetizers were provided. City on My Chest Hope Fest
Hampton City School students in grades 8-12 connected with local businesses and entrepreneurs and learned financial literacy in a pep rally/resource fair environment. This event is a school field trip for Hampton City Schools students and is not open to the public.
2023 Urgency of N.O.W. Gala of Hope
Dinner and celebration to culminate the week’s activities and will feature R&B and soul singer-songwriter Leela James. Attendees saw a highlight video of the week and a recognition ceremony to celebrate the work and accomplishments of youths, young adults, grassroots organizers, and leaders helping to reduce the impacts of gun violence. Formal attire preferred.
