Hampton’s 2040 Community Plan has already received broad input from residents and businesses, describing what they want for the future of our community. Now, it’s time to do a deeper dive into some identified strategic areas.
Join us as we break into smaller groups to explore key issues related to education, economic development, family resilience and economic empowerment, being a safe and clean community, placemaking, excellence in government, and living with the water. In order to create continuity in the discussions, we ask that participants be willing to commit to meeting with their steering group several times over the next few months.
Where are we now?

An overview of Hampton community data, which is our starting point — to include City Council's strategic priorities.
A 5-year plan on immediate strategic issues.
A 20-year plan that will look at broader areas of growth and development.
Key results from previous community plans include:
The transformation of the older indoor Coliseum Mall into Peninsula Town Center
The Boo Williams Sportsplex
Two schools (Andrews and Phenix)
Preserving the National Guard Armory, now the Vanguard restaurant, brewery, distillery and music venue
New homes in vacant lots in older neighborhood that fit the character of the neighborhood and other housing programs
There will be many opportunities to provide input — in neighborhood groups, civic and business associations, informal chats, and online polling. We will have a couple of large gatherings to check in with you and the community as we pull together what we’ve heard.
