Book a tour: To book a tour or, if you have any questions about tours, group tours, workshops or any other educational programming at the Hampton History Museum please contact the museum educator, Kris Peters, at kmpeters@hampton.gov or 757-727-6838.

Our Standard Admission Fee applies to any group of 9 or less and does not require advance booking.  You may request a docent led tour at no additional fee.  Docent requests are subject to the availability of our volunteer docents.  With a valid ID, AAA members, Active Military, Active NASA and seniors (age 62+) receive a $1 discount on our standard admission fee.  If you have any other questions, please contact the Hampton Visitor Center for details at 757-727-1102.

Our Group Admission Fee applies to any group of 10 or more.  Any group may request a docent led tour at the time of booking for no additional fee.  Guided tours must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance of the desired tour date.  Guided tours also require a non-refundable $24 deposit, no more than 7 days after the tour booking is confirmed.  The remaining balance will be paid by the group leader upon arrival.  We offer free admission to 1 adult chaperone for every 8 students when accompanying their students for a group tour.  Additional adults will pay the $3 group admission fee.  The museum can accommodate groups of up to 100 visitors at a time.  Groups larger than 100 visitors may schedule staggered tour times, or multiple tour dates.

Our Workshop fee applies to any group that wishes to participate in a classroom style workshop at the museum.  We currently offer three interactive workshops which are detailed on the back of this page.  Each workshop lasts roughly 30-40 minutes.  In order to prevent double booking of the museum’s limited space, scheduling for workshops is subject to other museum events, and is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.  Workshops must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance of the desired date, and require a non-refundable $24 deposit, no more than 7 days after the booking is confirmed.

Our Workshop and Tour Fee applies to any group that wishes to participate in a classroom style workshop at the museum in addition to a gallery tour.  The workshop will be conducted before the gallery tour.  Workshops and tours must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance of the desired date, and require a non-refundable $24 deposit, no more than 7 days after the tour booking is confirmed.

Guided tours generally last 1½ hours and include all of the museum’s main galleries.  The Hampton History Museum covers more than 400 years of local history and explores many different themes and topics, any tour can be tailored to focus on a group’s specific interests.  In addition to the main galleries inside the museum, groups may also request a visit to the 1728 St. John’s Episcopal Church.  The church sits across the street from the museum and visiting would add 15-20 minutes to the tour but is no additional cost, and is dependent upon the church’s schedule.

Tours may be booked 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday and 1–5 p.m. on Sundays.
