The information provided in the Small Business Directory is to assist with promoting contracting opportunities to small businesses within the Hampton Roads Region. The information can be searched by business type, city location and description of work. Business Development and Outreach

The Business Development and Outreach Services (BDOS) Division is the economic development arm of the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity. The Business Development and Outreach Services team is geographically dispersed throughout the commonwealth and provides an array of valuable workshops, seminars, and classes. The events are often planned in coordination with subject-matter experts throughout the commonwealth on a variety of topics designed to enhance the forward mobility of small business growth.

Procurement

The Procurement Office serves the City of Hampton, Hampton City Schools and the Hampton Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice. They are responsible for all formal bid transactions, procurements related to construction, professional services, transactions requiring performance bonding, annual contracts for goods, materials and supplies.

Certifications

The Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose is to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects.

The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification program is a federal program. The purpose is to increase the participation of certified disadvantaged business enterprises in projects funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and other federal sectors. Projects typically include heavy construction, such as building and designing roads, bridges, railroads, ports, and airports.

Hampton Roads Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)

Virginia PTAC’s mission is to “Help business do business with government”, both federal and state/local. Our services cover the full range of information, from the very basics for newcomers (FAR, FBO, SAM, DSBS, and more) to WOSB, SDVOSB, GSA schedules application, 8(a) certification, and more. We help our clients understand how to analyze and respond to RFPs, the advantages of priming and subcontracting opportunities and assist with more intricate company-specific challenges including pricing and compliance questions.

SCORE’s mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education.

Offers experienced mentors with decades of expertise in many areas of business including government contracting, manufacturing, hospitality, marketing, financial industries, and computing.

Our mentors provide free face-to-face meetings and low-cost workshops and events designed to enable entrepreneurs to succeed and thrive in today's challenging business climate. From helping start-up entrepreneurs get their small businesses off the ground to helping established small businesses grow and flourish, our mentors are ready to assist with all manner of business advice and guidance.
