Internal Affairs

The Internal Affairs Unit assures the professionalism and integrity of the entire Division. This Unit is responsible for resolving Division personnel actions or citizen concerns regarding police services. All findings are reported to the Chief of Police, following a thorough and impartial investigation of the complaint. 

Filing a Complaint

It is important that the citizens of Hampton have confidence in their police division. To this end, procedures have been put into place to resolve allegations of misconduct involving members of the Division. If you wish to file a complaint against an employee, you may do the following: Hamptom Police Patch

  • If the issue is minor in nature, please contact the employee's supervisor to discuss your concerns. Dial 727-6111 to request a call back from the respective supervisor.
  • If the complaint is more serious in nature, and after due consideration you believe that your complaint is justified, then you may complete the following online form. After providing the appropriate information, you will be contacted by a member of the Internal Affairs Office. You may also file a complaint in person by responding to the Office of Professional Standards or by obtaining a complaint form from any supervisor.
  • Once a formal complaint is opened, you will receive a copy of your complaint form. After the accusation has been thoroughly investigated you will be notified in writing of the results of the investigation.
