Operations Branch
On average, officers assigned to the Operations Branch respond to over 150,000 calls for service each year. The Operations Branch Commander is also responsible for overseeing the Traffic Unit, Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and Crisis Negotiations Team.

The Operations Branch encompasses the largest number of police officers within the Division. Officers assigned to this Branch are responsible for answering calls for service and responding to on-going emergency situations throughout the City. Officers patrol either the Wythe or Chesapeake side of the City and operate utilizing three separate shifts which are manned twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
