Site Plan Review

The Site Plan Review Committee is responsible for examining any and all preliminary site plans submitted by developers to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Hampton Code to ensure the orderly growth and development of the City of Hampton.

Overview

The Site Plan Review Committee is made up of representatives from Public Works, Division of Fire and Rescue, Police Division, Planning Department, Codes and Compliance, and any other department that the Director of Public Works deems necessary to review the plan.

During the review of the plan, recommendations concerning the plan may be made and any such suggestions shall be reported to the City Manager when the plan is submitted for his review. The committee is tasked with the responsibility of perusing the plan to ensure its compliance with the City's building, structure, and safety codes. The Police Division is tasked with ensuring that crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) is achieved. This is accomplished by ensuring appropriate lighting and landscaping design, while minimizing design barriers that may result in unsafe or unlawful activities.
