The Hampton Military Affairs Committee's goal is to maintain a strong, healthy, and cooperative relationship between the city and its local military facilities, members of the Armed Forces, military families, and our veterans. This includes those active duty, prior service, and retired military personnel residing in Hampton and/or serving at Langley AFB, the VA Medical Center, and military installations in greater Hampton Roads. This collaborative relationship is accomplished through information sharing, special events, identification of important resources and opportunities and other forms of civic partnership.
The Committee's primary mission areas are support and participation in the following activities.
Month of the Military Child, celebrated in April of each year.
Co-sponsorship with the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center for the Veterans Stand down in November of each year.
Support of the "transition on the go program" for service members separating from active duty seeking employment.
Sponsorship of the annual Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce "Military Citizen of the Year" recognition luncheon.
