City Manager's Message Nov. 16: COVID Appreciation Bonus

Posted on November 16, 2021 at 12:03 PM by Dacia Scott

Nov. 16, 2021 — Last week, when I wrote to you to announce the surprise Wellness Administrative Day, I mentioned that November is National Gratitude Month. I hope you enjoyed the bonus time off with family, friends or just some welcomed personal time alone. Today, I am pleased to announce another surprise for you, as our gratitude month expressions continue.

The last twenty months have been particularly challenging as the pandemic upended our personal and professional life. All of us were called to do things differently, and many also did different and new things in service to our community; but, through it all, our workforce shined, as it always does.

The Council and I are very grateful for the adaptability, innovation and determination you all exhibited throughout the pandemic. Accordingly, we decided to use end-of-the-year savings that were generated to award a one-time COVID Appreciation Bonus. Permanent Full-Time (PFT) employees hired on or before March 31, 2021 and in a paid status for the pay period ending November 19, 2021 will receive $1,000. PPT/WAE employees hired on or before December 31, 2020 who average at least 15 hours for the period of June 27, 2020 through March 19, 2021 and in a paid status for the pay period ending November 12, 2021 will receive $500. These amounts are subject to all applicable federal and state taxes. This one-time COVID Appreciation Bonus will paid this Friday, November 19th.

I hope the timing of this surprise bonus helps you to enjoy the upcoming holiday season a little more!

— Mary
