  1. Buckroe Beach Farmers Market

    September 26, 2020, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Buckroe Beach gazebo

    The Buckroe Beach Farmers Market is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., May 30 through Oct. 31. Sept. 19 is a fitness market (rescheduled from June), and Sept. 26 is a pet market. Vendors will be located on the grassy area surrounding the Buckroe Beach gazebo and will sell local produce, baked goods, sausage, seafood, jarred food items and more. There is no farmers market on July 4.

  1. Help decide new location for Langley Air Force Base entrance

    The City of Hampton and Joint Base Langley Eustis will host a day and a half online Planning Charrette, Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. At the design meeting, project team members will be available to discuss options for relocating the North Armistead Avenue West Gate “entry control facility” off Sweeney Boulevard and out of the clear zone -- the runway's flight approach zone. The JBLE-Langley, ECF, Alternatives Analysis project team has been evaluating two site locations along with the development of a variety of alternative layouts. The final five courses of action, narrowed down by the project team, will be considered during the 1.5-day Planning Charrette. The objective of the Planning Charrette is to refine the conceptual designs of the proposed plans with the intent of selecting a preferred plan to be further evaluated.

  2. Langley-Eustis virtual open house to discuss new study

    Joint Base Langley-Eustis and its community partners will hold a virtual open house to talk about a new study that analyzes the effects of aircraft noise, accident potential and land use development on neighbors of Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis. The public open house will be conducted as an online webinar consisting of presentations, a video, and Q&A session with various officials, including Bruce Sturk, director of federal facilities for Hampton. The 2020 Air Installation Compatibility Use Zone Study will update a previous study, and it documents changes in flight operations, noise contours, and compatible use guidelines for land surrounding the bases. The goal is to continue cooperation between the bases and the surrounding communities.
