[ARCHIVED] Network interruption for maintenance around 8 pm TONIGHT

Description: The IT Department is performing maintenance on our internet service tonight. There will be a brief interruption in service during the 30-minute maintenance period. All remote sites will be affected briefly.

• When: This evening, Wednesday, November 5, 2014, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

• Who is Affected? Anyone who uses City network services, especially remote offices not in City Hall and users who have not moved to Office365 for email.

• What will occur: At 8:00 pm this evening our internet service will be taken offline briefly for maintenance. Network services that rely on the internet will be briefly interrupted. Remote access to shared drives will be unavailable during the maintenance window. The interruption should last less than 30 minutes, and all services are expected to be back online/reconnected not later than 8:30 p.m. this evening.

• Special instructions: No need for action by customers. Staff at 311 will be advised as soon as services are restored. Please notify 311 if you experience any critical problems after 8:30 p.m. this evening and they will advise IT’s on-call staff. If your request is not urgent please submit an email to the IT Help Desk at Helpdesk@hampton.gov, and we will respond Thursday morning.

City web site users will not be affected, and Office365 Email users will be unaffected. Thank you for your support.
