[ARCHIVED] Lunch and Learn Feb. 12: Effective Communication

Feb. 3, 2015 - The February Lunch and Learn Series by Optima EAP will focus on effective communication. Due to employee response, all regularly scheduled Lunch and Learn Sessions will be held in City Council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall.

Employee Session: Thursday February 12th 12:00-1:00pm
Target Audience: All employees
Location: City Council Chambers, 8th Floor City Hall

Key discussion points include:
• The fundamental components of effective communication
• The impact communication has on personal effectiveness
• The nuances of different communication styles
• Tips for business communications and communicating with leadership

Leadership Session: Thursday, February 26th 12:00-1:00 pm
Target Audience: Supervisors and above who have direct employee reports
Location: City Council Chambers, 8th Floor City Hall

Key discussion points include:
• The fundamental components of effective communication
• The use of communication as a leadership tool
• Strategies to communicate effectively in certain situations
• How to use communication to improve relationships and increase employee productivity

“Encore Presentation” of January’s Leadership Session on Values and Ethics: Friday February 13th 12:00-1:00 pm
Target Audience: Supervisors and above who have direct employee reports
Location: Human Resources Training Room, 4th Floor City Hall

Due to seating limitations, we received several requests to offer another leadership session on Values and Ethics.

Key discussion points include:
• The risks of unethical actions
• The strategies that encourage ethical behavior
• How to address ethical dilemmas
• How to coach employees in making decisions that are consistent with organizational values
