[ARCHIVED] Hampton City offices closed Tuesday; essential personnel should report

Snow has been falling fairly steading and is expected to continue into the early hours.
Hampton Public Works crews remain on duty, working to clear the city's main roads. However, in many places there is a layer of ice that has formed, and the roads are very slippery.
Police report that there have been at least 29 accidents since 3 p.m., including many with injuries.
The National Weather Service, in Wakefield, is indicating Hampton could get between 5-8 inches of snow. The snow will fall fairly steadily until 4am and then will taper off. Temps will remain around 20 tonight and the high tomorrow will be close to 30 degrees. Winds will be light around 15mph.
The city has also issued a local declaration of emergency as of 10 p.m., following the state's earlier emergency declaration.
