[ARCHIVED] Gosnold's Hope Park Tree Planting Update

HCCC Gosnold's Hope Tree Planting

Many thanks to the 26 volunteers of all ages who came to plant a riparian buffer along a creek/ditch in Gosnold's Hope Park on Saturday, March 21. Thank you Langley Air Force Base 480th Squadron, Hampton Waterways Restoration Project, and the non-affiliated volunteers who came out and worked for two hours to plant and protect 137 wax myrtle, red maple, black gum, swamp white oak, serviceberry, and loblolly trees! And thank you Cary Koronas for photographing the event!

Thanks also to Beth Haines, Parks Manager, who collaborated on the project and trained the volunteers in proper tree planting method, and also to Meegan Wallace, who, with Beth, supervised the planting.

Thanks to the Virginia Department of Forestry for providing $500 of the money required for the project with a water quality grant.

This was a Hampton Waterways Restoration Project planting, dedicated to improving water quality in Hampton.
