[ARCHIVED] Hampton Clean Business Award Winner: Spratley Gifted Center!

Hampton Clean Business Award Winner

Congratulations to Spratley Gifted Center, the Hampton Clean Business Award winner for Spring 2015! The award was accepted by Michele Ferrel, fourth grade teacher, and presented by John Golden, Chair of Hampton's Clean & Green Businesses Committee, and Roger Fournier, Goodwill Donor Development Coordinator and member of the committee. Spratley Gifted Center won the award based on its tremendous involvement of the school staff, students, and parents in green school activities, which include recycling, litter prevention, green community activities, landscaping, gardening, and more.

The award was presented at the quarterly Virginia Peninsula Clean Business Forum, this time held in Newport News at Angelo's Steak and Pancake, held May 27, 2015. The next Clean Business Forum will be held in James City County in the summer.

If you know of a business that is doing the right things environmentally - recycling, litter prevention, worker education and participation, and Bay friendly landscaping, contact the Hampton Clean City Commission to nominate that business for a Clean & Green Business Award at hccc@hampton.gov.
