[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Needed for Cigarette Litter Prevention Program

cigarettes are litter

As part of the regional cigarette litter prevention program, HCCC needs adult volunteers to pass out pocket ashtrays and small information pieces about cigarette litter to smokers at Buckroe Beach at various times of their choice or at Groovin' by the Bay concerts. One (or two) volunteer(s) could help one time, or more often. This is your opportunity to make a difference in the amount of cigarette litter raining down on Hampton by educating smokers.

To sign up, contact Cris Ausink at 727-1158. Volunteers will receive some pocket ashtrays and business-card-sized information pieces to offer to smokers at the park. Ash receptacles also have been placed in specific locations for smokers' convenience.

Volunteers must be adults because of restrictions placed by the Keep America Beautiful grant funding the project.

For information: 727-1158 or causink@hampton.gov.
