[ARCHIVED] Storm, low pressure system could bring 5-10 inches of rain

Sept. 29, 2015 - Local and state officials are monitoring Tropical Storm Joaquin and a low pressure system that is developing over the Carolinas. Officials said the low pressure system could turn into a nor'easter later this week that could drop 5-10 inches of rain on Hampton.

The Office of Emergency Management said rain is forecast to start Thursday night and continue into Sunday. The forecast also calls for a significant coastal flooding risk, with the possibility of tides over 6 feet at Sewell's Point Friday evening.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. Emergency management will continue to monitor Joaquin and the low pressure system.
