[ARCHIVED] Flooding will continue through Monday

Oct. 4, 2015 - Heavy winds are will keep tides high and cause flooding throughout coastal areas of Hampton for another day, with Monday's level expected just under Sunday's.
Sunday afternoon's high tide -- 6.5 feet -- closed parts of 44 streets, according to police reports.
The National Weather Service prediction for Monday is 6 feet at 3:44 a.m. and 6.2 feet at 4:18 p.m. For comparison, Friday's high tide was at 6.2 (more than two dozen streets were reported closed at that time). The coastal flooding advisory has been extended through Monday evening.
Hampton has received no reports of water in homes; affected residents are urged to report damage to the 311 call center (727-8311).
Power outages in Hampton have been minimal, although the number of homes without power jumped to more than 200 late Sunday afternoon, most along North King Street and some in South Wythe.
Trash and recycling collection will continue on schedule, unless individual roads cause problems.
