[ARCHIVED] Anthem BCBS and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Network Negotiations

Anthem BCBS that Chesapeake Regional Medical Center has decided to terminate their contract with Anthem BCBS effective January 1, 2016.  This means if Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and Anthem are unable to reach an agreement prior to January 1st, Chesapeake Regional Medical Center will no longer be considered an “in-network” provider under the City of Hampton’s health insurance plan.  Anthem intends to continue negotiations with Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and are hopeful that they can come to an agreement that will allow Chesapeake Regional to remain in Anthem’s network of providers.  Anthem will post updates to this process at the following website:  http://www.group.anthem.com/Chesapeake_Regional_Medical_Center  and you can view the FAQs at:  https://anthemgroup.postclickmarketing.com/Global/FileLib/disruptions/Chesapeake_Hospital_FAQs.pdf .

Staff will updated on the progress of these negotiations as we move towards the end of the year.  Many of you will remember that we had the same issue in 2011  with Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD), and fortunately they were able to come to an agreement before CHKD left the network.  I hope to see the same outcome in this case.
