[ARCHIVED] It's not too late for 2016 Unity Award nominations

May 3, 2016 - If you know someone who has helped make Hampton a more diverse city, the Citizens’ Unity Commission - which promotes activities and events that bring diverse citizens together – wants you to nominate them for the 2016 Unity Awards.

The Awards recognize individuals, initiatives and organizations that have had a positive impact on racial and cultural diversity in Hampton.

Previous winners have included local civic leaders and city departments, including the Hampton Public Library, Michael Forde of the Virginia Caribbean-American Cultural Association, and John T. Dever, president of Thomas Nelson Community College.

Applications for nominees can be found at www.hampton.gov/unity and must be received no later than May 6, 2016.

Award recipients will be recognized at a special reception this summer that will be free and open to the public. For more information on the awards program and the Unity Commission, go to www.hampton.gov/unity or contact Wanda Ferrell at 728-3279 or email unity@hampton.gov.
