July 25, 2016 - Hampton was ranked the 3rd safest city in Virginia, based on FBI and Census data by the website
Nationally, Hampton ranked 53rd, Virginia Beach was 25th, and Alexandria was 29th.
According to the site, the 2016 Safest Cities ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall safety at the city level. This grade takes into account key indicators of a location’s safety, including violent and property crime rates, in an attempt to measure an area’s safety and security. See details at
