[ARCHIVED] Repairs scheduled for Armistead Ave. railroad crossing on Thursday & Friday

detour sign

Aug. 15, 2016 - A bumpy approach to the railroad tracks on Armistead Avenue between Coliseum Central and downtown will be repaired this week.
A contractor for CSX Corp. made adjustments to the track approach in mid-May, which settled and left the approach uneven. Several motorists have complained, and the city has posted caution signs near the crossing.
After some discussions between the city's Public Works Department and CSX, a repair schedule was announced. The road will be closed both north- and southbound Thursday and Friday, Aug. 18 and 19.
Alternate routes during the two-day closure include going south on Rip Rap Road to North Back River Road to Pembroke Ave or north on Rip Rap Road to King Street to Pembroke.
