[ARCHIVED] Today is last day to register to vote in Virginia, other key dates are coming up

Oct. 17, 2016 - Voters go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, but today is the last day for Virginia voters to register. Here are some other key election dates:
*Tuesday, Nov. 1: Deadline to request that an absentee ballot is mailed to you. Your request has to be received by the registrar by 5 p.m.
*Saturday, Nov. 5: Deadline to request an absentee ballot by appearing in the registrar’s office on person. You have to appear by 5 p.m. The registrar’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information visit the state website or www.hampton.gov/voter.
