[ARCHIVED] Bluebird Gap Farm festival kicks off fall fun, offers something for young, young at heart

Bluebird GapFarm

Oct. 18, 2016 – Bluebird Gap Farm is taking things up a notch this season and offering a three-day festival - Oct. 21-23 - full of activities and entertainment for all ages.

The Friday-Sunday event will have live music, novelty amusements like “punkin’-chunkin,’” where pumpkins will be hurled from a trebuchet, and entertainment by The Great Zucchini, a D.C.-area magician and performer.

And the fun isn’t limited to the children. Adults can look forward to music by Curtis Blues and relax with a craft brew or wine selections. Other highlights include food vendors, storytellers, a tiny tot farm area for ages 1-3, and a pumpkin patch where kids can also decorate their pumpkin at craft stations.

For those who haven’t been to the farm before, and those who have, you can enjoy upgrades like the imagination playground, covered pavilions, and more than 150 domestic and wild animals. Hampton Parks, Recreation, & Leisure Services’ event coordinator, Sunny Deming, says the festival will highlight all those features and more. The farm will also debut a new kayak launch.

“This event will hopefully bring back people who went to the farm as children,” Deming said. “We hope they bring their children back and get to experience it in a whole new way.”
