[ARCHIVED] Community invited to place a flag at Fort Monroe National Monument on Veterans Day

Oct. 20, 2016 - The community is invited to Fort Monroe National Monument on Friday, Nov. 11 - Veterans Day - to place American flags in the grassy field between batteries Church and DeRussy as a way of honoring the men and women who died for the nation.

Terry E. Brown, superintendent of the monument, said each participant will have an opportunity to display a flag following a special tribute. There will be a brief ceremony at 9 a.m. followed by the placing of the flags. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the Paradise Ocean Club parking lot by 8:30 a.m. Friday.
