[ARCHIVED] Register now for the 13th annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service

Dec. 12, 2016 - On Thursday, January 12th, 2017, The Peninsula Foster Grandparent Program will host its 13th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The event will be held from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center, 1300 Thomas St. Deadline to register is Jan. 5. Registration is required. At this year’s event, Martin Luther King Jr. is acknowledged for his movement towards freedom and community service. 

The theme is: “UNITE…Service and dialogue bring people together.” Synetheia Newby, Director of Hampton’s Citizens’ Unity Commission, will be the keynote speaker. There will be presentations, giveaways and complimentary breakfast and lunch. There is no cost to attend the event, but everyone who attends is asked to bring school supplies, gloves, hats and/or scarves for the Day of Service projects.
