[ARCHIVED] Update & input on Fox Hill Neighborhood Center Jan. 12

calendar.jpg

Dec. 28, 2016 - The City of Hampton is working with the residents in the Fox Hill area to build a neighborhood center. Interested residents are invited to attend a meeting Jan. 12 to hear an update and offer input.

Since the last meeting, some issues have come up with the previous location.

Plans had been to locate the facility adjacent to Asbury Elementary school; however, the environmental assessment showed significantly more wetlands than anticipated. The city has gathered additional site options and is seeking input from the community. Hampton City Council has set aside $3.5 million for the facility, which would offer a meeting place and services in a partnership with neighborhood groups. It would be smaller than a full community center and focused on the adjacent neighborhoods.

The meeting will be Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Asbury Elementary School, 140 Beach Road.
