[ARCHIVED] FEMA approves disaster aid for Hampton for damages caused by hurricane Matthew

Dec. 21, 2016 - The Federal Emergency Management Agency this week announced that Hampton is eligible to receive public assistant to help with damages sustained from hurricane Matthew. According to a news release from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the declaration means FEMA's public assistance program can be used to cover eligible government and certain non-profit costs, including debris removal, repairs to critical infrastructure, roads, buildings and equipment. So far FEMA has approved grants and loans totaling more than $8.4 million to residents and businesses in seven counties and cities impacted by Matthew. You can read the news release online.
