Dec. 30, 2017 - Hampton residents can now recycle a few more items, including coated cardboard (like milk cartons and frozen food boxes).

The list of items you can put in your household recycling bin is: Metal food and beverage cans, aluminum cans, pie pans, foil; glass bottles and jars; all kinds of cardboard (single-ply, corrugated, waxed, clean pizza boxes, egg cartons); paper, mail, newspapers, magazines, etc.; plastics labeled #1 or #2.

Do not recycle: food remains of any kind; needles; styrofoam; plastic bags; plastics labeled #3 or higher; pain, oil, poisons or aerosol cans.

Leaves, weeds and grass clippings can be recycled into mulch but do not place them in the bin; bag them in sturdy, clear trash bags. For instructions on limbs, see http://hampton.gov/Solid-Waste.

The updated information, as well as the recycling and trash calendar, is being mailed to homes and should arrive in homes in early January.
