Jan. 24, 2017 - Hampton's Emergency Management Office has a new CERT class starting Feb. 23. Sign up now for four weeks of training on everything from disaster preparedness to light search and rescue.

Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. until about 9 p.m., with a final practical March 18.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training helps communities mitigate disasters during the first 72 hours following a disaster when flooded roads, disrupted communications, emergency demand outweighs local emergency services, etc., may restrict access by professional emergency first responders. The purpose of CERT training is to provide private citizens with the basic skills that they will need to handle virtually all of their own needs and then to respond to their communities needs in the aftermath of a disaster.

Get a certificate of completion when classes are over. Email emoffice@hampton.gov or call 757.727.1208 to register and learn more.
