Jan. 26, 2017 - Hampton City Council Wednesday recognized former city treasurer Robert "Bob" S. Williams for his dedication to the city and his work as city treasurer. The resolution says that "during his time as treasurer, Mr. Williams brought a higher level of customer service to the citizens of Hampton." It goes on to say that he revolutionized the payment processing system in Hampton,  and the office's high collection rate "is a true testament to the leadership and innovation that he displayed."

Williams retired Jan. 1, 2017. He became treasurer in 2008 after serving as chief deputy treasurer and a field investigator. He joined the Treasurer's Office after a 31-year career with Hampton police. (read the resolution online)
