[ARCHIVED] Wednesday City Council agenda includes budget, RV, transportation study briefings

Feb. 6, 2017 - Hampton City Council is scheduled to take up a number of items on Wednesday, from the budget timetable to regulations of RVs parked in residential areas to public comment and social media channels.

Wednesday afternoon's 1 p.m. work session includes briefings on:

  • Potential updates of the zoning standards for recreational vehicles, including boats, to update the standards written when those vehicles were generally smaller an dress common. the regulation of recreational vehicles and budget preparations. 
  • The impact of the state budget and the timetable for public input on spending.
  • The timing within the Council meeting on when the public can comment on general issues. The proposal, which will be considered for a vote in the evening session, is to make permanent the most recent timing of comments at regular City Council meetings — after the public hearing items on the evening agenda and before the Council takes up other items. 

Other items in the 6:30 p.m. session include reports reports on the HRT Peninsula Corridor Study and the city’s communications via social media.

The public hearing advertised for this meeting — on the 2017 regional hazard mitigation plan — is being postponed until Feb. 22 because of the newspapers’  mistake in the notice of the hearing.

Meetings take place in Council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall and are televised on Hampton’s City Channel, 47 on Cox and 22 on Verizon, and streamed online at http://hampton.gov/TV
