[ARCHIVED] "Build the City: Minecraft Madness!" - March 11, 10 am-2 pm

Join us as we take the show on the road once more!  Last year over 2,000  people attended our "Build the City: Minecraft Madness!" event at Historic Carousel Park, themed around the popular video game, Minecraft.  This year we lead the activity again outside the historic Carousel.  Using recyclable cardboard and other materials we will build a model of downtown Hampton  in the art style of Minecraft.  Teams will construct key buildings. Bring along your own team of friends, or join a team at the event.  In addition there will   be other Minecraft and architecture crafts.  Donated supplies will be collected by the museum through March 8, including cardboard and cardboard boxes (smaller than 1½ feet on all sides), shoe boxes, construction paper, paint,  and other supplies.  Classrooms, clubs, families, neighborhoods, and other groups should contact the museum educator Kris Peters at 757-727-6838 or kmpeters@hampton.gov if interested in leading a section of the city or a particular building.

This family event is free and open to the public.

For this special event only, the historic Hampton Carousel will open 10 am to 2 pm. Rides are only $1. The carousel will open for the season in April.
Carousel Park is located at 602 Settlers Landing Rd in Downtown Hampton next the Virginia Air & Space Center.
There is plenty of free parking in the garage diagonally across the street from Carousel Park.
For more information call 757-727-1102.
