March 1, 2017 - Hampton's residents helped prioritize strategic capital spending at the city's second "I Value" budget input meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The final session on the budget formation will be held Monday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Bethel High School. This session will include discussions of spending and/or cuts for traditional city services, staff, and programs. Among the new requests for next year are proposed increases for police staffing and technology.

For those who have not attended the meetings --  or who want to share information -- presentations and Q&As are being published on the city's web site at http://hampton.gov/DocumentCenter/Index/603

This will be the eighth year of the city's "I Value" effort, which seeks input before a city budget is proposed to the City Council. The concept, which has won awards nationally, is to include taxpayer priorities during the formulation of the spending plans, rather than in public hearings in reaction to a proposal.

After the final meeting, polling on the same issues will be available on the internet.
