April 19, 2017 - City Hall is scheduled to be bathed in purple light Thursday evening in recognition of April being the Month of the Military Child.  Established in 1986 by the U.S. Department of Defense, the month is designed to highlight the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Throughout April, schools are encouraged to plan special events honoring military children - from simple bulletin boards to morning announcements and more. Purple symbolizes all branches of the military and will be worn Friday by groups nationwide. On Thursday and Friday, many Hampton schools will be “purpling up” in support of the military child.
