[ARCHIVED] Hampton residents get discount on mid-week jet ski rental at Buckroe Beach

July 10, 2017 -- Hampton Watersports, which offers recreational equipment for rent at the city's Buckroe Beach, is offering a deal for Hampton residents and city employees: 20% off jet-ski rentals Monday through Thursday (except holidays) through the rest of the summer.

That will reduce the cost to $69 an hour. (The cost for non-residents and for weekend rentals remains $89 per hour.) No experience is required. Certified staff will offer safety and operating instructions beforehand. Renter must be at least 18 years old.

Hampton Watersports also offers rentals of kayaks for $25 per hour and paddle boards for $20 per hour.

The company began offering rentals of watersports equipment this year after a proposal to City Council, and it pays the city a portion of its revenues.

Hampton Watersports runs a concession stand at Buckroe Beach daily from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and one at Bluebird Gap Farm from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Guests can purchase snacks, refreshments and ice cream at all concession stand locations. Future plans include kayak and pedal boat rentals at Bluebird Gap.
