  • The Safe and Clean initiative
  • Youth violence prevention and youth opportunities, and
  • Possible changes to the city's leash law.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting agenda includes public hearings on:

  • A use permit for a pawn shop at 100 W. Mercury Blvd.
  • A Comprehensive Plan amendment that would create some commercial areas at the entrances to Langley Research and Development Park. These would be to support the research and manufacturing areasMost of the area is set aside for business/industrial uses.

A perpetual easement for land near Langley Air force Base to limit encroachment is listed on the agenda for a public hearing, but is expected to be deferred to a later time.

Renovations to the City Council Chambers will add technological upgrades, including increasing the visibility of presentations. The seating area for citizens will also be replaced. Jones, at 1819 Nickerson Blvd., was chosen as the alternative site because it is set up for broadcast as the meeting place for the Hampton School Board. Residents attending the meetings should use the forum entrance on the right of the building, not the main office. Signs will be put out on meeting days to help with navigation. City Council and Planning Commission meetings will still be broadcast meetings live on the City Channel, Cox 4 7 and Verizon 22, and streamed online at http://hampton.gov/TV.
