Aug. 16, 2017 - Hampton City Schools continue to make improvements in academic achievement, and school officials said new state assessment results that will be released next month show the city has the highest accreditation rate in five years.  19 schools (66 percent) will be fully accredited, compared to 16 schools (55 percent) last year and 12 schools (41 percent) in 2015. All four high schools will be fully accredited, and seven schools will be partially accredited. "I am pleased with the exceptional progress toward all of our schools being fully accredited," said Dr. Jeffery Smith, schools superintendent. "We will continue our efforts to ensure that our young people not only exceed state benchmarks, but are also college, career and life-ready.”School ratings by the state reflect standards of learning test score and other assessments in English, history/social science, mathematics and science.
