Aug. 21, 2017 - Join the city's Community Emergency Response Team and learn about disaster preparedness, search and rescue and more. Most classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, and Oct. 10, 12 and 14. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers learn how to help others in the community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects. For more information, call 757-727-1208 or email emoffice@hampton.gov. To register, download an application form or call 3-1-1 or 757-727-8311. CERT is an official Federal Emergency Management Agency program. Certificates of completion are issued to participants at the end of the program.
