[ARCHIVED] A few tips for keeping our children safe in Hampton on Halloween

Halloween17

Oct. 18, 2017 - Halloween is just around the corner - Tuesday, Oct. 31 - and residents are reminded that the hours for trick-or-treating are dusk to 8 p.m. for kids 12 and younger. Safe Kids Worldwide, a nonprofit group that works to keep kids safe from injuries, has a few tips for kids and adults:

  • Cross streets at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks
  • put your electronic devices down and keep your heads up
  • decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers
  • have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights so they can be seen by drivers
  • Motorists should slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods
