[ARCHIVED] Borrow 'I Love Virginia State Parks' explorer backpacks at libraries

Oct. 28, 2017 — Want to explore the parks, trails and nature centers in Virginia? The Hampton library now has “I Love Virginia State Parks” backpacks available to borrow.  The backpack includes a pass for free parking and admission to all Virginia state parks and contains accessories to help you learn about nature and science through exploration. 

One backpack per family can be checked out by an adult for 14 days with a valid library card. A pack is available to check out at the Main Library and each of the three branches.  

With this nature backpack, kids of all ages can explore and learn about Virginia state parks. The backpacks include, among other items:

  • Parking pass for free parking and admission to all Virginia state parks.
  • Pocket guides for weather, edible wild plants, medicinal plants and other plants.
  • Learn and Live Outdoor Skills card set.
  • Tarp.
  • Paracord.
  • Port-A-Bug Field Observation Container.
  • Binoculars.
  • Star Map.

Items must be returned to the library during open business hours and not in the book drop. The borrower will pay a $50 fine if the pass is lost. An inventory of the pack's items will be made at checkout and upon return.
