Featuring unique vendors and taking place at the Hampton History Museum, the Hampton Holiday Market features arts and traditional crafts, demonstrations, food, entertainment, holiday ornament making, face painting, a train display and much more! 

Due to predicted inclement weather, the 30 craft, homemade food and gift vendors for the Hampton Holiday Market are being moved down the street from the outside grounds of the Hampton History Museum to the Ruppert Sargent Building at 1 Franklin St., approximately one block away from the Hampton History Museum. The family activities, including train displays and face painting, remain at the History Museum.

Admission to the Hampton History Museum is free all day, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Live Music at the Ruppert Sargent Building
Entertainment will be featured throughout the day including traditional Christmas music from New Sound Alliance; classic holiday songs and folk music from Narissa Bond, “Grunge-grass” takes on holiday favorites, original tunes and audience participation with Tornado Bait, original holiday pop from The Fruitcakes, and modern folk from Gratiot Lake Road.

Food Trucks at the Ruppert Sargent Building
Food trucks will be stationed outside of the Ruppert Sargent Building including Soups Plus and Mediterranean Appetite.

Heirloom Ornament at the Museum
Make new memories creating different types of heirloom ornaments that family and friends will cherish for years to come, such as Painted Oyster Shell Ornaments and Tin-Punch Plate Ornaments.

Train Displays at the Museum
A train display created by the Peninsula Model Railroad Club will dominate the museum’s Great Hall. This nostalgic display features several N-scale trains running simultaneously through city, farm, countryside and other interesting scenes. In addition, railroad enthusiast Dave Shuster is bringing another large layout of the Polar Express, complete with Santa’s Village, along with an O-gauge scenic display, a motorized train that kids can ride, and toy wooden trains to play with.

Face painting at the Museum
Artists from smile My Party will offer free face painting courtesy of the Hampton History Museum from 11:30 am-2:30 pm.

Retro Toys at the Museum
Children can try their hand at games, and play with reproductions of vintage toys that would have been familiar to parents and grandparents, including Rock’em Sock’em Robots, Twister, Spirograph, “Pop-o-Matic” Trouble, Bozo the Clown 3-D Bob Bag, along with the ever-popular LEGOs.

Selfies with Santa at the Hampton Carousel
Saturday, December 9, 1-6 pm
Festively decorated for the season, the historic Hampton Carousel welcomes youngsters of all ages to share their holiday wishes and snap “Selfies with Santa.” A second face painting station will be set up at the carousel (1-4 pm). Admission to the carousel, “Selfies with Santa” and face painting are free. Tickets to ride the carousel are $1.  

Free Museum Admission
Visitors can tour over 400 years of the city’s past, from Native American habitation to the 20th Century in the Hampton History Galleries, along with the special exhibit “When the Computer Wore a Skirt: NASA’s Human Computers” that tells the story behind the hit film and best-selling book “Hidden Figures.” On the second floor of the museum, “Give Me Liberty: Fugitive Slaves and the Long Revolution Against Slavery,” traces the lives of over 30 Hampton slaves who joined forces with opposing forces to gain freedom during times of conflict.

The Hampton History Museum is located at 120 Old Hampton Lane in Downtown Hampton. There is plenty of free parking in the garage across the street from the museum. For more information call 757-727-1102.
