[ARCHIVED] Sentara CarePlex Hospital's maternity center opens Dec. 31, open for tours

Dec. 13, 2017 - Sentara CarePlex Hospital held a ribbon cutting Tuesday, Dec. 12, for the Family Maternity Center that will officially opens Dec. 31, 2017. The center will feature seven labor & delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) suites.

Interim president, Rita Bunch, welcomed local leaders and Sentara affiliates to take a first look at the spacious accommodations for mothers and babies, and their families.

It has been more than 8 years since the hospital delivered babies and Bunch proudly announced the new unit, saying it will provide a modern and ultra personalized birthing experience that families deserve to have here in Hampton. 

The unit is located on the second flood and will be the only hospital to offer LDRP suites in the Lower Peninsula. The unit features spacious rooms, accommodations for doulas, one cesarean-section operating room, two triage beds, educational classes for families before, during and after pregnancy, advanced technology in each suite to keep parents and babies safe, and a nursery.

 Expectant mothers and their families are welcome to schedule a tour anytime by calling 1-800-SENTARA and on Saturday, Dec. 16 the public is welcome to tour the maternity center between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Register online: Maternity Center tour
