Workshop and job fair for young adults

Jan. 30, 2018 - If you are looking for a job, a fresh start or a new career direction, don’t miss the “Get Hired Job & Resource Fair” on Tuesday Feb. 6 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Nearly 90 local employers and employment resource organizations will be participating in the free event. No registration is required for jobseekers. The job fair is sponsored by Hampton’s Economic Development Department, Goodwill, Peninsula Worklink, the Virginia Employment Commission, Peninsula Council for Workforce Development, Jobs for Life, and Hampton City Schools.

In addition to bringing in top employers from throughout the region, organizers will also help jobseekers get ready for the resource fair with a special program at the Goodwill Community Employment Center, 1911 Saville Row, on January 31-February 2. Interested men and women should call 757-951-4200 to schedule an appointment.

“We are so excited that over 90 businesses and resource partners have agreed to participate in helping us fill a need of our community,” said Pamela Croom, Workforce Development Coordinator in Economic Development. “It is critical to ensure our residents have the training, access to employment and supports necessary to benefit and advance.”

Mayor Donnie Tuck said: “events like the Get Hired Job and Resource Fair, which connect Hampton’s skilled workforce with employers looking to hire, are a critical part of our efforts to strengthen our economy and support our residents.”

Employers interested in more information should call 757-727-6237 or email Croom at pcroom@hampton.gov.
