[ARCHIVED] Watch a skit on the Virginia-born "Father of Black History" at the main library

Learn about the influential African-American historian and writer Carter G. Woodson in the skit "Dr. Carter G. Woodson: The Father of Black History," 6:15-8 p.m. Feb. 28 at Hampton's main library. The show will be performed by seven local teens.

The young performers will use the stage to teach black history and the renowned scholar. Woodson was born in Virginia in 1875, earned his doctorate from Harvard University, promoted the adoption of Black History Month, and wrote several books along the way.

The show, suitable for ages 6 and older, is sponsored by Dr. Margaret Bristow with the Hampton Roads Branch of the Association for the Study of African Life and History.
