Feb. 5, 2018 - The Hampton Health Department will provide free flu shots Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. - or until the vaccine runs out - at 3130 Victoria Blvd.

In a news release Monday the Health Department said: "The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses." The clinic will vaccinate anyone three years old or older.

"Flu can have serious consequences, especially for the very young, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems," said Dr. Elizabeth Webster, deputy health director for the Peninsula/Hampton Health Districts.

Flu symptoms can include fever or chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches and fatigue. If you have flu symptoms, contact your health care provider for advice.

You can reach the Health Department at 757-727-1172. For more information about the flu, visit www.vdh.virginia.gov/epidemiology/influence-flu-in-virginia.
